Rasmussen Reports: Most Arizona Voters Still Support Immigration Law

Rasmussen Report: Arizona voters are still bullish about the state’s new immigration law despite the U.S. Justice Department’s ongoing legal challenge. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arizona finds that 50% now think the immigration law has affected the state’s image positively. That’s up nine points from 41% in May.

Forty-four percent (44%) believe it’s had a negative impact on Arizona’s image, down slightly from the previous survey. Four percent (4%) say it’s had no impact.

In spite of the flurry of boycott threats heard in the spring just after the law was passed, 50% of Arizona voters think the legislation will be good for the state’s economy, up three points from May. Thirty-seven percent (37%) say it will be bad for the economy, while six percent (6%) say it will have no impact.

Sixty-one percent (61%) of the state’s voters still favor the new law, while 34% are opposed to it. . . . [Full Story]

Arizona beheading raises fears of drug violence

Arizona beheading raises fears of drug violence
CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) – The gruesome case of a man who was stabbed and beheaded in a suburban Phoenix apartment has police investigating whether the killing is potentially the most extreme example of Mexican drug cartel violence spilling over the border. Martin Alejandro Cota-Monroy’s body was found Oct. 10 in a Chandler apartment – his severed head a couple feet away. One man suspected in the killing has been arrested, and a manhunt is under way for three others.

Detectives are focused on whether the men belong to a Mexican drug cartel, and they suspect that Cota-Monroy’s killing was punishment for stealing drugs. The brutal nature of the killing could be designed to send a message to others within the cartel.

“If it does turn out to be a drug cartel out of Mexico, typically that’s a message being sent,” said Chandler police Detective David Ramer. “This person was chosen to be executed. It sends a message to other people: If you cross us, this is what happens.”
Full Story: Arizona beheading raises fears of drug violence
by TexasFred: Last night our local TEA Party met and we were asked to be thinking of the things we want most to impress upon our incoming lawmakers once the new Congress and Senate are seated.

Living in Texas, and it being a border state that is already inundated with ILLEGAL Hispanics, I am thinking that my biggest push for Washington will be border security, or lack there of, no amnesty in ANY way and the deportation of all ILLEGALS.

We already KNOW that Mexico is over-run by narco-terrorists, all you have to do is look at the news every day. Murders, beheadings, innocent people killed by the drug cartels for sometimes no other reason than simply refusing to work for the cartels.
Stories like these are becoming an almost daily occurrence: 15 Killed in Mexican Car Wash Massacre and this: A Mexico massacre in unfamiliar place: the capital

We KNOW that Mexican troops have crossed our borders, thus committing an INVASION against the sovereign borders of the USA and it’s citizens.
Large Areas of Arizona Now Part of Mexican Narco State

Fatal Arizona Home Invasion Sparks Fears of Mexican Military Involvement

MINUTEMEN RELEASE VIDEO OF MEXICAN ARMY INCURSION OF U.S. BORDER

Yet these incursions, INVASIONS, have yet to be met with military force, by Obama or his less than impressive predecessor, G.W. Bush. Our borders are still basically WIDE OPEN.
The Virtual border fence a $1 billion failure , and I would venture to say, that $1 BILLION price tag is probably a low-ball estimate.

Our nation is in great peril, this is the HOT story on the news networks as I write this post, Explosive found in Dubai, part of US terror. There are those that seek to attack us from all points of the compass.
Decapitations are a regular part of the drug war in Mexico as cartels fight over territory. Headless bodies have been hanged from bridges by their feet, severed heads have been sent to victims’ family members and government officials, and bags of up to 12 heads have been dropped off in high-profile locations.
More than 28,000 people have been killed in Mexico in drug-related violence since December 2006, when President Felipe Calderon deployed soldiers to battle the cartels in their strongholds.
That could very soon be the regular news story in the USA.
If the suspects in the Arizona case belong to a cartel, the crime could be the only known beheading in the U.S. carried out by a drug cartel, said Tony Payan, a political science professor at the University of Texas at El Paso who has done extensive research about border violence.
IF is one of the biggest words we use. IF the suspects are cartel members, IF the suspects are captured, IF the suspects are prosecuted, IF the suspects are still in the United States. That’s a lot of IF’s in my opinion.
“The cartels warring in Mexico have operatives in Phoenix, and it is possible they may go after each other in places like that,” he said, but added that cartels are very unlikely to target the general American population. “Our law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies have shown a high degree of competence. In Mexico, they’re nowhere near that level.”
The cartels have operatives in ALL major American cities. Take that to the bank. As to the high degree of competence regarding OUR law enforcement agencies, yes, we have highly motivated individuals in law enforcement, but the administration of Hussein Obama has tied their hands with political correctness. The idea that we can’t defend OUR borders and that we must NEVER offend the enemies that seek to kill us and take this nation over are as dangerous to Americans citizens as are the cartels and terrorists themselves.

The enemy within, protected by the powers that be.

Entire police force in Los Ramones, Mexico quits after gunmen attack headquarters

By Philip Caulfield, NY Daily News: A policeman walks among bullet-riddled patrol trucks after an attack at a police station in the town of Los Ramones. Gunmen shot more than 1,000 rounds and launched six grenades at the building.

The entire police force in a small Mexican town abruptly resigned Tuesday after its new headquarters was viciously attacked by suspected drug cartel gunmen. All 14 police officers in Los Ramones, a rural town in northern Mexico, fled the force in terror after gunmen fired more than 1,000 bullets and flung six grenades at their headquarters on Monday night.

No one was injured in the attack. Mayor Santos Salinas Garza told local media that the officers resigned because of the incident. The gunmen’s 20-minute shooting spree destroyed six police vehicles and left the white and orange police station pocked with bullet holes, the Financial Times reported.

The station had been inaugurated just three days earlier. The attack was the second in less than a week against police forces in Nuevo Leon. Last week, thugs threw two grenades at police in Sabinas Hidalgo, according to newspaper Noroeste.

Los Ramones is in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, which has been a war zone of turf violence between two of the country’s fiercest drug gangs, the Zetas and the Gulf cartel. Police have blamed members of both cartels for attacks on several police stations throughout the area. Several mayors in the region have been assassinated.

Mexico’s municipal police forces often quit out of fear after being attacked by cartels. About 90% of forces have less than 100 officers, and 61% of cops earn less than $322 a month, according to the Finanical Times. Mexico’s intelligence chief said this summer that nearly 30,000 people have died in drug related crimes since 2006.

Senators Question DHS Dismissal of Immigration Cases in Houston

Seven U.S. Senators sent a letter to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano asking for answers about a recent investigation conducted by the Houston Chronicle that found a dramatic increase of dismissed immigration cases. The paper found a 700% increase in the number of cases dismissed in recent months.

The report found that 217 immigration cases were dismissed in August compared to just 27 cases dismissed in July. Over the summer, there was a DHS internal memo that detailed ways the Obama Administration could stop deportations buying time for Congress to pass a mass amnesty bill.

The seven U.S. Senators are demanding answers from Napolitano:
Dear Secretary Napolitano:
Recently, media reports have revealed that pending removal proceedings are being dismissed in record numbers. That sharp increase in dismissals is the result of a directive from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John T. Morton to all ICE attorneys to review pending cases and seek dismissal if the cases do not involve Level I offenders (aliens convicted of aggravated felonies or two or more felonies). Specifically, ICE attorneys are directed to seek dismissal of cases involving Level II and Level III criminal aliens so long as the aliens have no felony convictions and no more than two misdemeanors. As we understand it, cases involving aliens with misdemeanors involving domestic violence, sexual crimes, or driving while intoxicated would not be dropped.

Though the reports focused only on cases pending before Houston immigration judges, our understanding is that the ICE directive applies nationwide. Numerous criminal aliens are being released into society and are having proceedings terminated simply because ICE has decided that such cases do not fit within the Department’s chosen enforcement priorities.

The ICE directive, along with other recently announced detention and removal policies, raises serious questions about your Department’s commitment to enforce the immigration laws. It appears that your Department is enforcing the law based on criteria it arbitrarily chose, with complete disregard for the enforcement laws created by Congress. The repercussions of this decision extend beyond removal proceedings, because it discourages officers from even initiating new removal proceedings if they believe the case ultimately will be dismissed based on the new directive.

Even more disturbing is the fact that your Department has chosen to dismiss cases against criminal aliens, including aliens who have committed crimes involving moral turpitude, crimes of violence, assault, theft, fraud, drug offenses, driving under the influence, and illegal entry.

To be sure, ICE has cited a lack of resources as one of the reasons for its prioritization of cases and for its selective enforcement. But to date, we have not seen any efforts by ICE, your Department, or the Administration to request an increase in ICE funding sufficient to address staffing shortages, detention capacity, and coordination of enforcement efforts nationwide to achieve a streamlined and robust immigration removal system.

As a result, it appears that your Department is doing the very thing that we have raised concerns about in several letters – allowing illegal aliens to evade the law while waiting, without much concern about removal, to one day obtain legal status. Though Congress has been slow to reach a comprehensive immigration solution, your Department is charged with enforcing the law as written and it should not be adopting a lax approach to immigration enforcement or selectively enforcing the laws against only those aliens it considers a priority.

We would like a detailed list of the number of cases that have been dismissed since January 2010 to the present. If the case involved a criminal alien, we also would like you to identify which crimes the aliens were convicted of and in which jurisdiction. In addition, we want you to detail exactly how much funding your Department would require to ensure that enforcement of the law occurs consistently for every illegal alien encountered and apprehended by ICE or U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Please respond by November 15th.
The letter was signed by Senators John Cornyn (R-Ariz.), Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), Jon Kyl (R-Texas), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Tom Coburn (R-Okla.).

GAO: 'Virtual Fence' along MexicanBorder Over Budget

By Jerry Seper, The Washington Times: The Department of Homeland Security has "largely defined but has not adequately implemented" controls over a "virtual fence" along the U.S.-Mexico border promised for completion in 2009 and, as a result, the multibillion-dollar project is behind schedule and over budget, a government report says.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO), in a 63-page report released Thursday, said the department had failed to effectively manage the project, known as the Secure Border Initiative Network (SBInet), or give sufficient oversight to its prime contractor -- resulting in costly rework and contributing to SBInet's "well-chronicled history of not delivering promised capabilities and benefits on time and within budget."

The report said that in an effort to deliver SBInet on target and on schedule, Homeland Security officials had relied heavily on the Boeing Co., the prime contractor, from whom they regularly received "incomplete and anomalous" cost information.

As a result, the report said, the department not been able to gain "meaningful and proactive insight into potential cost and schedule performance shortfalls, and thus take corrective actions to avoid shortfalls in the future." The data submitted by Boeing, according to the report, made the SBInet appear better that it actually was.

. . . "This inability has contributed to the program's failure to live up to expectations and to it costing more and taking longer than was necessary," the report said. . . . . [Full Story]

Obama's Border Patrol Chief: Give Mexican Illegals ‘Road to Citizenship

U.S. Customs and Border Protection
Commissioner Alan Bersin
By Edwin Mora, CNSNews.com: U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin, who oversees both the Customs Service and the Border Patrol, says the United States needs to undertake a “paradigm shift” in how it views the U.S.-Mexico border.

This shift, Bersin explained in a speech last Thursday at the Migration Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., would include both a “road to citizenship” for illegal aliens and understanding that the “best way” to secure the border is to allow Mexicans to work in the United States legally in the future—to create what he called “a legitimate labor market between the United States and Mexico.”

On Monday, a CBP spokesperson told CNSNews.com that what Bersin meant by this was “having a temporary worker program that is conducive to our labor needs.”

The unemployment rate in the United States was at 9.6 percent in September and has been at 9.5 percent or higher since August 2009, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

President Barack Obama appointed Bersin to oversee U.S. border security in March. Bersin, a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard who also won a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford and a Yale law degree, formerly served as secretary of education for the state of California and as chairman of the San Diego Regional Airport Authority.

On Thursday, Bersin told the Migration Policy Institute that when U.S. President Barack Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon met in May they “articulated the vision for this new era—the creation of a 21st Century border, one that enhances our security and mutual economic competitiveness in an increasingly globalized world.”

“Underlying this new vision is a paradigm shift—a change in how people view the border,” Bersin said. “Historically, governments have approached border management as, essentially, ‘holding the line.’ But the border isn’t an isolated place disconnected from the interiors of the United States and Mexico. What we do at the border has effects that are felt far away from the jurisdictional line—especially in an era of international trade and global supply chains. Although policing the line will remain a key element of any border management approach, we must shift our thinking and take a more holistic view of border management, one that is based on securing the flows of trade and travel.”

Bersin twice called for establishing what he called a “legitimate labor market between the United States and Mexico” and said this was the “best way” to secure the border.

“What are the elements that will create for the first time a legitimate labor market between the United States and Mexico?” Bersin asked rhetorically during his speech.

In answering his own question, Bersin dismissed what he described as calls for “mass amnesty” or “mass deportations,” calling instead for a “long road to citizenship” for illegal aliens who choose to become U.S. citizens.

Such a program, he said, would call for “responsibility from those who are here illegally, so that they can register, admit to having broken the law, pay a fine, pay back taxes, get right with the law, and learn English before they can get on that long road toward citizenship if they chose to pursue it.”

In a question-and-answer session following his speech, Bersin said establishing “a legitimate labor market between the United States and Mexico” was the “best way” to secure the border.

“Absent comprehensive immigration reform people will attempt to enter this country illegally, drawn by the job market,” Bersin said. “It is our job to stop them, and we will do our best to do that. We are doing better than ever before. But this is not about real estate, it’s about flows of people and securing the border by deterring and preventing illegal immigration. The best way to do that is to have a legitimate labor market between the United States and Mexico.”

Asked what Bersin meant by “a legitimate labor market between the United States and Mexico,” a CBP spokesperson told CNSNews.com, “What I can tell you, is that from the context of Thursday's speech, what I believe he was referring to was a key element of immigration reform--having a temporary worker program that is conducive to our labor needs.”

AZ Governor: Obama, Calderon Both Want Illegal Immigration to Increase Liberal Voters in U.S.

(CNSNews.com) - Arizona Gov. Brewer told CNSNews.com that she believes neither President Barack Obama of the United States nor President Felipe Calderon of Mexico wants to secure the U.S.-Mexico border because they hope illegal aliens will increase liberal voters in the United States.

“I think it’s just amazing that the Mexican government, along with President Calderon and the bordering governors that interact with us, they do not want our borders secure,” Brewer said in a telephone interview today. “I mean, they have made it very, very clear.”

When asked why she believed Calderon does not want the U.S.-Mexico border secured, Brewer said, “I believe that he believes that he is helping out the federal administration and they are looking at it in a political mode to bring in newly registered illegal immigrants to register to vote.”

Brewer, a Republican, also said Calderon “wants those dollars that they are raising here in Arizona and in all America being sent back to Mexico to push up his economy.”

Asked whether she thinks Calderon wants Mexican citizens to vote in U.S. elections after they have been given an amnesty and have become citizens of the United States or while they are still illegal aliens, Brewer said: “Probably both.”

U.S. Border Czar Calls on Congress to Get Serious about Immigration Reform

Homeland Media Watch: While some candidates continue to make political fodder out of immigration and border security on the campaign trail, administration officials are pushing Congress to get real about overhauling our broken immigration system. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner, Alan Bersin, recently commented that Congress needs to ‘get serious about a post-election immigration overhaul if the nation is to deal with the duality of enforcing border security while facilitating trade.’ In the wake of the nation’s SB1070-inspired border frenzy, some may be surprised to learn that there’s more to immigration than targeting undocumented immigrants and securing the border. A big part of Bersin’s job also involves regulating the flow of trade and commerce across the border, as well as expediting travel—priorities that tend to get lost in empty debate over who’s the toughest on undocumented immigration.

GM Roper Joins Blogs For Borders

Allow me to introduce myself as a new author. My name is GM Roper and I blog at GM's Place As someone who lives on the border, about 10 miles north of Reynosa Mexico, I see daily the problems facing this country with the influx of illegal aliens.

It's easy to say that the problem of illegal aliens in this country is a huge one, and indeed it is. In the U.S., according to Homeland Security in 2009, there are approximately 8.5 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. from North America (Mexico and Canada); 1 million from Asia; 700k from South and Central America; 300k from Europe; and 200k from other areas for a total of 10,750,000 unauthorized immigrants.

And the numbers above, are likely off by a factor of 2. This presents a huge problem for the infrastructure of the U.S. The cost to the states with the highest percentage of unauthorized immigrants, California, Texas, Florida and New York - in that order) is staggering. Costs include education, health care, the courts and incarceration and of course in human misery whether it be from grossly underpaid folk, folk that take jobs in high unemployment areas where a legal resident may be willing to flip burgers if that means the difference between feeding their kids or not.

And yet, given all this, there are those misguided people that want to give all of the illegal immigrants amnesty and a short path to citizenship.

Look, I have lived in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas for neigh on 35 years with the exception of a few years in East Texas. I know, and have provided mental health services to people that I know were illegal, who were legal with a green card and to legal immigrants. There can be no doubt that the corridor of South Texas has suffered because of the waves of unauthorized immigrants coming from the south.

There are folk who will say that this blog is anti-Mexican but that truly is not so. I know literally thousands of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. They are wonderful, hardworking, industrious folk for the most part. For the MOST PART. But as the troubles in Falcon Lake with the murder of David Hartly shows, the border area is becoming increasingly violent as the drug cartels and the Mexican Federal and State Authorities battle each other.

In future posts, I will be telling the storys of residents of "El Valle" as the Rio Grande Valley is known. Hope to see you here.

Murder of Texas Jet Skier By Illegals Spirals Out of Control!

by Carmen Mercer, Minuteman Civil Defense Corps: ALERT: Reports are coming in from Mexico that investigators in the murder of American David Hartley have also been murdered. Rolando Armando Flores Villegas was investigating David's case from the Mexican side of the border. They were cooperating with U.S. officials to try to bring those responsible to justice.

However, what is known is that two days after Villegas provided documents to a Texas TV station that identified two members of the Zeta drug cartel as the culprits a military post in Mexico received a suitcase containing the head of Villegas.

It is quite clearly a warning from the drug cartels to stay away. The Mexican government seems to be heeding the threats from the cartels with comments like those of Tamaulipas state prosecutor office spokesman Ruben Rios saying that they "don't know how or why he was killed. We don't have any details on how he died" These shocking reports are just stoking the flames of the already controversial border security dispute. It is clear that the border has become a lawless war zone and the drug cartels are the ones calling the shots!

The only thing the Obama administration has done to combat this growing epidemic is to concede to the cartels and place signs 70 miles INSIDE the American border telling American citizens to stay away from the border. American civilians are under attack on American soil from malicious and ruthless drug gangs! Obama has no problem protecting the borders of Afghanistan but he can't be bothered to send the army to the UNITED STATES BORDER?!

Mexican obviously can't control the cartels so it's up to us to cut off their supply of money. It is time to shut down the border completely! We need a fence and more to protect the border! It's a war zone, we need soldiers to fight in a war zone! Anything less is a disgrace to Robert Krentz, David Hartley, and the countless others that have been unnecessarily killed by drug running criminals!

Hartley and his wife Tiffany were jet skiing on Falcon Lake, which straddles the Texas border between the U.S. and Mexico. While they were sight-seeing they were savagely ambushed and attacked without provocation by Mexican pirates. The pirates swooped in mercilessly on speed boats and gunned down David Hartley in cold blood. Tiffany was unable to recover her husband's body after he was shot in the head, and she fled the attackers back to the U.S side of the lake in order to get help.

Obama has still not responded to the heartbreaking and shocking news of last week's murder of American civilian David Hartley. "How many more American citizens have to die?" said Texas Governor Rick Perry as he challenged Washington to get its act together.

What has Obama done about escalating U.S. losses? Nothing but post signs telling Americans to stay away from border areas on U.S. soil and RUN AWAY from killers in our own backyard!!! Well, I guess even a jet ski is just not fast enough.

This savage killing is just another tragic result of the Obama administration not securing the border and leaving U.S. citizens defenseless to completely unacceptable and totally avoidable murders known to be perpetrated by ruthless Mexican drug runners.

Last spring Arizona Rancher Robert Krentz was murdered by an illegal alien believed to have ties to the drug cartels on his own land. Krentz' murder was the flash point which ignited the controversial Arizona immigration enforcement legislation signed into law by the Governor of AZ and promptly stayed by the Obama Justice Department. The outrage over the open border has only grown since then. Americans want the border sealed and the flow of illegal criminals, thugs and drugs pouring over the border stopped!

However, the Obama administration has done nothing to combat this crisis. The safety of American citizens relies on signs posted 70 miles inside the border saying that American soil is no longer safe and AMERICAN CITIZENS are not allowed on their own land. This is an unprecedented act of cowardice, ceding sovereign U.S. territory to alien banditry, and Obama is the first American President to ever passively and preemptively concede American land to foreign terrorists.

Governor Perry is right to be outraged! He is doing everything he can to make sure the body of David Hartley is recovered. Mexican authorities aren't allowing U.S. officials to enter the Mexican waters of Falcon Lake to aid the search. Mexico City district attorney Marco Antonio Guerrero Carrixales said recently that they, "are not certain that incident happened the way that they are telling us." Tiffany Hartley is convinced, as are many others, that Obama could bring more pressure on the Mexican government to exert itself against the cartels to recover the body. Governor Perry responded by saying, "I find it really reprehensible for anyone, U.S. or Mexican, to speak otherwise" about Tiffany's claims.

Perry has again beseeched Washington for more troops and support on the border. He spoke to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano's chief of staff and made a request for 1,000 National Guard troops for the Texan-Mexican border -- a request that was promptly denied.

Washington cares more about its political standing with a country that can't even police itself than for the safety and security of its own citizens. They should be ashamed of themselves. How many innocent Americans have to be murdered before Obama acts? In any other time these killings and invasions would constitute an act of war. All American citizens ask for is a closed and secure border, so we can safeguard the people of this country.

Obama and the Democrats have already put the Amnesty wheels in motion as orders are out to scuttle ICE raids of companies hiring illegal workers, remove key elements of 287G policies that give local law enforcement the ability to arrest illegal aliens, and to set the stage for the in-take processing of millions of illegal aliens so as to grant mass AMNESTY TO ILLEGALS.

Enough is enough! The line has to be drawn! The invasion of America has to end! Justice has to be done for all the good, honest, Americans who have been killed, raped, kidnapped, stolen from, and abused by criminal illegal immigrants! American sovereign territory must be DEFENDED and HELD SECURE!!

It is a dark time in America; it seems as if our voices aren't being heard. WE MUST NOT BACK DOWN! The most powerful things you have as a citizen is your voice and your ballot, even if so far in Washington, they REFUSE to listen. THE HOUR IS LATE, MAKE THEM HEAR US -- it is the right thing to do!

Help us mobilize common sense, patriotic Americans against this travesty!! The Obama Administration's plan for Lame Duck Amnesty MUST BE STOPPED!

Immigration Stances Hotter This Election Than Any Other

Chris Chmielenski, NumbersUSA: Every day, the phones and email boxes in our NumbersUSA offices carry media inquiries about our most recently updated ratings of candidates on a variety of immigration issues.

"Immigration is hotter as a campaign issue this fall than at any time during NumbersUSA's 14 years or from my observations the previous 25 years as a journalist," says Roy Beck, our CEO. "We are pleased that our Immigration-Reduction Grades are routinely showing up in news stories this fall."

In less than three weeks, we'll find out how many of our 104 (and growing by the day) "True Reform" candidates make it to Washington. We also have an additional 30 candidates who have taken our immigration-reduction survey and agree with us on most of the important immigration issues, but just fell short of earning our "True Reformer" label.

According to Real Clear Politics, which is a neutral political website that rates elections by averaging multiple polls, there are 145 House and Senate races that are currently too close to call. Of those 145 races, we have candidates who have completed our survey in 50 of them!

All in all, we have at least one candidate who has completed a survey in one of every four Congressional races. This is by far the largest response we have had in our decade of offering the survey. As you can see, our survey is not for the weak-hearted. A candidate has to really want to be known for immigration stances to be willing to dive into all the extraordinary pledges that we ask from them.

Please check out our Candidate Comparison pages. If you see candidates who you support but who have not completed a survey, please urge them to do so. There's still plenty of time for us to add their responses to our website and alert our members in the district.

A few weeks ago, the Dream Amnesty Act came within 3 votes in the US Senate.

Plans to advance Amnesty millions of illegal aliens will be effected by the voter in the mid term elections of Nov. 2. It is important to get out and vote. Please watch this video and share with others.

Listen carefully how Eliseo Medina as he lays out the agenda to form a new 'governing coalition' that will structurally change America for the 'long term' putting his illegal alien voting block and progressives in charge of you, your property, your lives, and the lives of your children and grand children. U.S. Spending $18.6 Million A Day to Incarcerate Illegal Aliens

Immigration Enforcement ‘Surge’ Nets Thousands of Gang Members (image)
More than 11,000 gang members
and their associates have been arrested
in a 3-year period by U.S. ICE
By Edwin Mora, CNSNews.com – U.S. taxpayers are spending at least $18.6 million per day to house an estimated 300,000 to 450,000 illegal immigrants who are incarcerated and eligible for deportation from the United States, according to data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ). The cost per day for these prisoners is based on Justice Department incarceration cost estimates from 2001 and on the lower-end figure of 300,000 incarcerated deportable aliens, which means the actual expense today could be substantially higher than $18.6 million per day.

The prisones involved here are foreign national who have come into the United States, committed a crime, been captured, and imprisoned. Half of the undocumented aliens who were removed from the United States in fiscal 2010 (which ended on Sept. 30) had been convicted of a crime in the United States.

On Wednesday, the office of the DHS Inspector General (IG) released its annual performance plan report for fiscal year 2011, which states that there are “approximately 300,000 to 450,000 criminal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, county, and local correctional facilities [who] are eligible for removal from the United States.” . . . AZ Gov. Brewer Slams 'Foreign Interference' in Immigration Laws

As reported in several news sources, a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling issued Monday, allowed nearly a dozen Latin American countries — Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Chile — to submit friend-of-the-court briefs in DOJ's challenge to Arizona's immigration enforcement law, SB 1070. This blatant interference by foreign countries in a sovereign state issue has serious repercussions to American freedoms and liberty. The following article in Politico summarizes the situation.

Az Gov. Jan Brewer
by Scott Wong, Politico - Ariz. gov. slams 'foreign interference':

In a new twist in the fight over Arizona’s immigration law, Republican Gov. Jan Brewer on Tuesday asked a federal court to disallow foreign governments from joining the U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit to overturn the law.

The move comes in response to a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling issued Monday, allowing nearly a dozen Latin American countries — Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Chile — to submit friend-of-the-court briefs in Justice’s challenge to SB 1070, which Brewer signed into law in April and is considered one of the nation’s toughest immigration-enforcement measures.

“As do many citizens, I find it incredibly offensive that these foreign governments are using our court system to meddle in a domestic legal dispute and to oppose the rule of law,” the Republican governor said in a statement shortly after the state’s motion was filed Tuesday evening.

“What’s even more offensive is that this effort has been supported by the U.S. Department of Justice. American sovereignty begins in the U.S. Constitution and at the border,” she added. “I am confident the 9th Circuit will do the right thing and recognize foreign interference in U.S. legal proceedings and allow the State of Arizona to respond to their brief.”

Brewer and her supporters have said the state law is necessary because the federal government has failed to protect the border and enforce immigration laws. But the Justice Department — with strong backing from President Barack Obama — sued to block the Arizona law on constitutional grounds.

Responding to the suit, a federal judge in July put some of the most contested parts of the law on hold, including a provision that requires police officers to check the immigration status of individuals they stop for other offenses if there is “reasonable suspicion” they are in the country illegally.

Brewer, who has vowed to take the case to the Supreme Court, appealed the decision to the 9th Circuit Court, which will begin hearing arguments in San Francisco on Nov. 1, one day before the midterm elections.

The Arizona law is a top political issue nationally. Cities from San Francisco and Seattle to Baltimore have joined a friend of the court brief opposing the Arizona law, while 11 states — including Texas, Florida and Nebraska — filed an amicus brief backing the law.

In July, more than 80 Republican members of Congress signed their names to an amicus brief filed by the conservative Immigration Reform Caucus. They included Sens. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, David Vitter of Louisiana and John Barrasso of Wyoming, and Reps. Lamar Smith of Texas, Steve King of Iowa and Trent Franks of Arizona.

Brewer’s motion should resonate among conservative legal scholars worried about giving foreign legal systems a voice in American jurisprudence. These concerns are a reaction to a school of legal thought arguing that American judges should look to foreign laws and courts for assistance in interpreting the U.S. Constitution, particularly in regard to basic human rights issues. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy is arguably the leading spokesperson for this approach, as noted in a 2005 New Yorker profile.

The state of Arizona’s motion could also strike a chord with those on the right who are convinced that President Barack Obama (and Bill Clinton before him) want to make U.S. laws subordinate to international courts, particularly the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Under Clinton, the United States signed a treaty to join the court weeks before leaving office in January 2001, though the Senate never ratified his action. Months later, President George W. Bush pulled the United States out of the treaty, saying he worried foreign governments would try to prosecute U.S. troops for alleged war crimes.

Crime, Rape Trees, The Dream Act, and Silence

The recent effort to throw the Dream Act into a defense spending bill made me think of a few things. Namely, the crimes committed by illegals, as well as the relative silence of the left.

To illustrate, let's take a look at some more crimes committed by illegals. I saw the first video at Randy's Roundtable. It was made by Duane Lester at the All American Blogger.

Then, I took a look at rape trees.

Now, it's my understanding that some folks say that the whole rape tree thing isn't happening. However, Amnesty International is discussing it.

That brings me to two groups, one large and well known, and another that is not so well known. The first is the feminists. A quick look at the NOW website says nothing about rape trees...nothing at all. It seems that if something might hurt the left, it can be ignored. However, if they could use it against the right, they'd be screaming in the streets. Ironic, isn't it? The second are the folks that are advocating for the Dream Act, I had a brief run in with them a few months ago, when some of them had a protest at John McCain's office. I wonder what they'd have to say about all the rapes, murders, and other crimes committed by their fellow illegals? I wonder what they would say to the victims (or the surviving family members) of those crimes? Actually, I asked them that, but they declined to answer. They still won't say anything meaningful, I'd bet. They're too busy making demands of us, while conveniently disregarding our laws. I have no choice but to assume that as long as they get what they want, all the deaths and rapes are well worth it.

That might sound harsh, but getting killed, or having a loved one robbed, raped, or murdered is far more sadistic than any of my words. The fact is this, people are being robbed, raped, traumatized, or murdered by illegal aliens. Since our government refuses to keep or disclose statistics on it, all we have are estimates, all of which run into the thousands per year.

The sad thing is this; I would support immigration reform that makes it easier and quicker to gain legal entry into the country. It is well known that the process is long and overly complicated. But if there is a way to properly vet all people entering, and allows people to come in that will work and join our society, I would welcome it. Most illegals are people that want to work. I have no problem with folks coming here wanting opportunity. My ancestors came here, legally, of course, for the exact same reasons. My problem is with people that blatantly ignore our laws, and then have the nerve to make demands of us, especially when so many people that are here legally, or are natural born, are being victimized.

ICE program shows Houston leads nation in illegal alien crime and removal

Originally a photo about an illegal alien
who burned a woman alive.
He got a life sentence.
Photo: americanvoiceinstitute.org
by Sheryl Devereaux: The end of September was the break of a new statistical year for a program instituted by ICE to report the actual statistics on criminal behavior in relation to illegal alien population. The report was released today in Washington D.C. The disturbing news for Houston, one of three cities chosen to participate in the program, is that more than 75% of illegal residents are committing crimes (other than being here illegally). This is up from the previous year by many thousand. Nationally, about 50% of illegal aliens are committing crimes. These are astonishing statistics.

Houston Sheriff Adrian Garcia said, "We are finding individuals ... that didn't come here to make a better life for themselves. They came here to continue their criminal careers, and that's not what we're going to support."

The statistics show a correlation between crimes and the border. Texas shares a border with Mexico of over 1200 miles and only 250 border patrol troops. — A gaping hole for illegals looking to expand their careers in crime. America is not only the land of opportunity for those who look to fulfill their dreams via hard work and ingenuity, but through an opportunity to rob Americans blind...one way or another.

Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano was quick to credit the Obama Administration (read: her department) for the program that has "removed" this element from the states. But the larger issue, one of preventive measures is, why, on the other hand, did the Secretary also tell Arizona that if they want more National Guard troops than the 30 sent, they would have to foot the bill for it, not the Fed?

Given the attitude of the Federal administration to ignore prevention of illegal immigration, even penalizing states that try to defend themselves against invasion, begs the question of what can be expected? What is the point of collecting the data? What is the point of ‘removing’ illegal criminals (an oxymoron if ever there was one) if solid immigration policy and border protections are not part of this Administration’s agenda?

Continuing to ignore these findings as validation for a preventive program of border patrol and control—like blatantly turning a deaf ear to Arizona's cries for help amidst a border war inside their territory, might leave Texas as over powered as Arizona at some point. Texas, and particularly Houston, with the largest percentage of illegal aliens engaged in crime, must make it's stand at the polls, where new blood will ensure there isn't a lock step with a President and his administration who have failed to honor the oath of office to defend the Constitution which gives protection to the states' Republican governments, and from invasion.

Arizona and California Face Federal Government Ineptness on Illegals

(CNSNews.com) - Ariz. Border Sheriff: Obama’s ‘Got His Hands Wrapped Around Our Throat': Sheriff Larry Dever of Cochise County, Ariz. told CNSNews.com that President Barack Obama has “got his hands wrapped around our throat” as his administration sues the state of Arizona for trying to enforce the immigration laws that the federal government itself will not enforce.

Dever also said he has “zero confidence” Obama will secure the border before his presidential term is up in two years and that the president is putting the people who live and work in Cochise County at risk by willfully failing to secure that border so that he can maintain political leverage for his goal of winning an amnesty for illegal aliens. (CNSNews.com) - ICE Won’t Say If It Will Enforce Immigration Law Against Undocumented Alien Who Worked for Meg Whitman – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in a statement issued to reporters this week, declined to say whether it will take any action in the case of Nicky Diaz Santillan, the former maid of California Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, who admits she did not have the proper legal papers to work in the United States.

“As a matter of policy, ICE does not disclose whether it will conduct a specific law enforcement action in the future,” read the statement sent from ICE by e-mail to CNSNews.com on Friday. “The agency is focused on smart, effective immigration enforcement that prioritizes efforts to target dangerous criminal aliens and others who present the greatest risk to our communities.”

“In the workplace, ICE’s enforcement strategy focuses on identifying employers who knowingly hire unauthorized workers and engage in related crimes such as worker exploitation, visa fraud and human smuggling and trafficking,” reads the statement.

Diaz Santillan admitted she did not have the proper papers to work legally in the United States during a press conference with her attorney Gloria Allred on Wednesday. She also said she was fired by Whitman and her husband Griff Harsh in June, 2009, after she admitted to them that she "did not have papers to work here." [Full Story]

Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border 3: A Day in the Life of a Drug Smuggle

Reference our prior post and video: Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border: Drugs, Guns and 850 Illegal Aliens. The Center for Immigration Studies has released the third film in a series, "Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border 3: A Day in the Life of a Drug Smuggler." This is the Center for Immigration Studies' National Security Director Janice Kephart's third web-based border film, this time focusing on drug cartel travel methods through Arizona's federally owned land. Ms. Kephart obtained much of the footage for the film by traveling with her hidden camera guide into three drug running corridors in central Arizona.

The Center for Immigration Studies is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research organization founded in 1985. It is the nation's only think tank devoted exclusively to research and policy analysis of the economic, social, demographic, fiscal, and other impacts of immigration on the United States.

Georgia & California Take on Illegal Aliens Attending State Universities

email imageGeorgia Debates Barring Illegal Aliens from Attending State Universities - A special committee formed by the Georgia Board of Regents, the body of Georgia’s state government that oversees the University of Georgia system, recommended last week that illegal aliens be prohibited from attending the state’s publicly funded colleges and universities. The committee also recommended that all Georgia colleges and universities verify whether admitted students seeking in-state tuition are in the country legally (illegal aliens are not eligible for in-state tuition in Georgia). The recommendation arose following increasing concerns over the costs of illegal aliens residing in the state. email imageGovernor Schwarzenegger Vetoes California DREAM Act - On the last day of September, Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed the California DREAM Act of 2010. The California Legislature sent the legislation to the Governor August 31, after both the Assembly and Senate passed SB 1460 and AB 1413 (collectively referred to as the DREAM Act). Together, the bills expanded the pool of illegal aliens who would be eligible for in-state tuition and provided that illegal alien students would also be eligible for certain education grants and benefits. (SB 1460 § 4; AB 1413 § 1(c)) Pursuant to state statute, illegal aliens in California are already eligible for in-state tuition, despite the fact that federal law prohibits any state from granting in-state tuition to illegal aliens unless the state also grants it to every citizen in the U.S., regardless of residence. (California Education Code § 68130.5) In his veto message, Governor Schwarzenegger stated: “given the precarious fiscal situation that the state faces, it would not be practical to adopt a new policy that could limit the financial aid available to students that are in California legally, in order to provide that benefit to those students who are not.” Read the full article

Sen. Menendez Introduces Amnesty Bill Day Before Congressional Recess

email imageFAIR Legislative Update: In a final attempt to woo amnesty advocates into the voting booths this November, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee Chairman, introduced an amnesty bill late Wednesday evening as Congress was poised to recess for the midterm elections. The 874-page bill, entitled Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2010, would exponentially increase the number of immigrants in the country to unprecedented levels by granting amnesty to the estimated 13 million illegal aliens currently in the U.S., permitting them to bring in their spouses, children, and other relatives from other countries, and by issuing hundreds of thousands of new green cards through the process the authors call “recapture.” Read the full article

Man Convicted for Unwittingly Selling to Illegal Alien

H/T Peaceable Texans For Firearm Rights

Bastrop Man Convicted for Unwittingly Selling to illegal...
The Police News
Feds convict Texan for selling gun to alien with Texas drivers license

In Federal District Court the ATF won a conviction from an Austin jury that defies logic and reason. In a trial before Federal Judge Sam Sparks, government lawyers conceded Texas resident Paul Copeland did not know his buyer was an illegal alien, but the jury they should convict him anyway because he "had reasonable cause to believe" he was selling to an illegal alien because the two men and a boy who were present at his table at the time of the sale: 1) were Hispanic, 2) spoke Spanish, and 3) wore cowboy clothing. And the jury did as asked. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Freel acted as lead prosecutor in the case.

The firearm transaction at issue occurred on January 16, 2010, at a gun show at the North Austin Events Center, at 10601 N. Lamar Blvd., in Austin, Texas. Undercover ATF agents followed Mr. Huerta, his son, and another Hispanic male, Hipolito Aviles, around the "Texas Gun show" that day, and claimed to observe Huertas transaction. Austin P.D. used Copelands case as the reason to close down the gun show, leading to a protest by Austin residents in front of APD headquarters on January 25.

Mr. Copeland is a 56 year old Cedar Creek resident and Vietnam veteran who liked to buy, sell, and trade firearms as a hobby. On January 16, however, he had the misfortune to sell a handgun to Leonel Huerta Sr., who spoke both English and Spanish. Huerta Sr. negotiated his purchase from Copeland in English, showing Copeland his Texas Drivers License.

At Copelands trial Huerta admitted on the witness stand, that he is in the country illegally, (Huerta Sr. had previously admitted this fact to Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) Special Agent Leo Buentello). ATF Agent Shawn Kang claimed he saw Huerta later hand off the gun to Aviles. Despite these admissions, Huerta Sr. was never arrested, charged, or deported. Instead, his presence at the gun show was used to entrap an American citizen into an unwitting violation of a federal gun control law. Huerta Sr., who is a resident of the City of Austin, appeared as a witness at the trial, admitted he was in the country illegally before federal prosecutors and a federal judge, yet he was allowed to leave the courtroom under his own power. To date Huerta Sr. has not been prosecuted for his purchase, possession, or disposition of the handgun he bought from Copeland, while Copeland is now a convicted felon.

"Instead of busting the illegal alien for buying, they bust the citizen for selling," commented Paul Velte, attorney and founder of Peaceable Texans for Firearms Rights, a gun-owners' rights advocacy group from Austin. Velte asked, "who was in a better position to know the buyers immigration status, the buyer or the seller?" He also said, "What happened to Paul Copeland should enrage all Americans. The Federal Government is using illegal aliens to entrap citizens lawfully exercising their right to sell firearms. The illegal alien walks free, but the citizen gets convicted. The same government charged with controlling immigration is the one using illegal immigrants to attack its own citizens. Does this make any sense? It makes no sense unless the purpose is to discourage attendance at gun shows and frighten citizens from selling their firearms to other citizens."

Velte pointed out that "There is no way for a citizen to know who is here legally or not. In fact, under Austins sanctuary city policy, not even the police officer at the door of the gun show was allowed to ask a persons immigration status, yet the average Texan inside the show is expected to assume that a person standing before them with a Texas drivers license is in the country illegally just because they look Mexican and speak Spanish."

Velte noted that the federal governments lawsuit against Arizona was based on that very type of conduct: Concluding someone could be here illegally based on their looks or their language. Velte said gun owners in his group are outraged, and they want to know:
  • Why is the illegal alien who purchased the gun, Leonel Huerta Sr., still living in Austin ?
  • Why does he still have a Texas Drivers license?
  • Why is ATF using illegal aliens to set up and convict American citizens?
  • What has he been promised for his cooperation?
  • Why has he not been prosecuted? He committed three distinct crimes: he purchased a firearm knowing he was an illegal alien, he possessed the firearm, and he transferred the handgun to another illegal alien (Hippolito Aviles, who was convicted and given time served on June 30, 2010).
  • Why has Huerta Sr. not been deported?
Judge Sparks sentenced Copeland on August 27 to six months confinement and 24 months of probation, and called Copeland "a liar" for not admitting guilt. ATF confiscated Copelands entire gun collection and initiated forfeiture proceedings. Copeland was also fired from his job due to the indictment, and he would have lost his home to foreclosure, if not for his family stepping in to pay his mortgage while he serves his sentence.

Illegal aliens murder Americans, invade U. S. Parks

Obama, as Janet Napolitano looks on,
sends a laughable 1000 troops to
southern border.

by Anthony G. Martin: The travesty of the Obama Administration ahd the Federal Government in their persistent failure to enforce U.S. law on illegal aliens has resulted in more American deaths near the southern border.

This time, the Mexican drug cartels have illegally invaded certain areas of the American southwest (with absolutely no action by the federal government) set up shop to engage in drug running and weapons trafficking, the murder of U.S. citizens, and in some areas human smuggling.. .

According to the El Paso (Texas) Times:
"Authorities confirmed Wednesday that two Mexican drug cartels have made their way into southern Doña Ana County.

"An ongoing investigation into Mexican drug- and weapons-trafficking organizations has resulted in four seizures totaling more than $400,000, authorities said.

"The investigation is "absolutely ... related to two drug cartels operating out of Juárez," Doña Ana County sheriff's investigator Bo Nevarez said.

"Most recently, $40,000 in U.S. currency was seized in an overnight operation targeting a Mexico-bound car the night of Sept. 23."
In another major development, the increasing deadly violence against Americans on our own soil is of great concern to residents in our border states.  Michelle Malkin reports that as TV personality Stephen Colbert appeared before the Democrat-controlled Congress to make a mockery of the push to stop illegal immigration, the citizens who actually live in the area are dead-serious about the problem.  The reason?  Their lives are at stake.

Malkin posts a letter to Colbert written by the aunt of a young U.S. citizen who was gunned down by an illegal alien:
"Dear Stephen Colbert,

"In preparing this open letter to you, I am literally fighting back the tears! It truly breaks my heart that so many people in positions of power and authority continue to make light of illegal immigration!

"Are you aware of, and/or concerned with the fact, that American citizens and legal immigrants are murdered everyday by illegal aliens? Have you ever spent one second thinking about that?

"In speaking to Congress today, do you think you would have prepared anything different if one of your love ones was murdered by an illegal alien? You think you would make fun of this illegal alien invasion if you lost a loved one to this crime?

"What if your mother was shot in the head by an illegal alien? Do you think you could make that funny? What about your children? Would it be comical if your daughter or your son or your niece or nephew was lying in the street dead, shot in the head, by someone living in this country illegally?"  (Excerpt).
Add this to what we already know about the federal government essentially turning over U.S. land to illegal alien Mexicans near the southern border, the order from the White House for the military not to apprehend or detain illegals, and the continued deadly attacks on Americans, and it is clear that the U.S., under this Democrat/Marxist controlled regime, is turing the country into an unmitigated disaster.
