Dark Side Of Illegal Immigration - Contagious Diseases

Contagious Diseases
by P.F. Wagner: Legal immigrants are required to have medical screening to ensure that they do not bring any contagious diseases into the United States. Illegal aliens are not screened and many are carrying horrific third world diseases that do not belong in the USA. Many of these diseases are highly contagious and will infect citizens that come in contact with an infected illegal alien. This has already happened in restaurants, schools, and police forces.

Malaria was eradicated from the USA in the 1940s but recently there were outbreaks in southern California, New Jersey, New York City, and Houston. Additionally, Malaria tainted blood has been discovered in the blood supply.

Dengue was first recognized in the 1950s, affects most Asian countries and has become a leading cause of death among children in the infected areas. Heretofore unknown in the US, Dengue outbreaks have now occurred in the United States.

Leprosy, a scourge of Biblical days, is caused by a bacillus agent and is now know as Hansen's Disease. In the 40 years prior to 2002, there were only 900 total cases of leprosy in the US. In the following three years there have been 9,000 cases and most were illegal aliens.

As noted in the article Leprosy in America: new cause for concern by Dr. William Levis, head of the New York Hansen's Disease Clinic. "It's creeping into the U.S. ... This is a real phenomenon. It's a public health threat. New York is endemic now, and nobody's noticed." In the same article, Dr. Terry Williams, who runs a Houston-based clinic serving leprosy patients across southern Texas, said that the bulk of the cases treated by his clinic were immigrants. "A lot of our cases are imported," he said. "We see patients from everywhere--Africa, the Philippines, China, South America." (emphasis added)

Hepatitis A-E is a viral infection that primarily attacks the liver. In 2004, more than 650 people contacted Hepatitis A at a single Chi-Chi's Mexican restaurant in Pennsylvania. Four latter died. Hepatitis B is one of the major diseases of mankind and is a serious global public health problem. It is estimated that 2 BILLION people are infected and about one million persons die each year. The new vaccine is only 95% effective in preventing an infection and will not cure a person who already has Hepatitis B, which results in a lifelong infection, cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver, liver cancer, liver failure, and early death. An estimated 1.3 million people in the US are currently infected. No vaccine is currently available to prevent Hepatitis C-E and treatment for chronic Hepatitis C costs about $1,500 per person.

Tuberculosis (TB) kills approximately 2 million people each year. It is estimated that between 2002 and 2020, approximately 1,000,000,000 people will be newly infected, over 150 million people will get sick, and 36 million will die. TB is a highly contagious disease. Like the common cold, it spreads through the air. When infectious people cough, sneeze, talk or spit, they propel TB germs, known as bacilli, into the air. Each person with active TB will infect on average between 10 and 15 people every year.

The United States currently has one of the lowest rates of TB in the world. Mexico has 10 times the rate of prevalence and many African countries along with Afghanistan, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Indonesia have rates that are 100 – 150 times higher. Making matters worse, a few years ago a Multi-Drug-Resistant (MDR) strain of TB has emerged that is resistant to all standard anti-TB drugs. Treating a single case of MDR TB costs over $250,000 and as much as $1,200,000 per person, and even with treatment about half of the patients with MDR-TB prematurely die.

In an article in the Journal of the American Medical Assn., Dr. Reuben Granich, a lead investigator for the CDC commented on MDR-TB:
"Evidence of it has surfaced in 38 of 61 California health jurisdictions, and it could ‘threaten the efficacy of TB control efforts,' Granich said. The infected were said to be four times as likely to die from the disease and twice as likely to transmit the disease to others ... Reluctant to label the infected as ‘illegal' or even ‘undocumented' aliens, the report notes that of the 407 known cases of MDR-TB, 84% were ‘foreign-born' patients, mainly from Mexico and the Philippines who'd been in the U.S. less than five years. The percentage of TB cases among the ‘foreign-born' jumped from 29% in 1993 to 53% as of last year."
Recently, there was a TB Outbreak In Oklahoma City in a hospital affecting thousands.

Hopefully, this will not be the new extensively drug-resistant XDR strain just being brought in by illegal aliens (now 4% of US cases) and which is currently impossible to cure at any cost. In any case, it would not be surprising to find that the source of the outbreak is an illegal alien working in the hospital or an infected resident worker who became infected through contact with an infected illegal alien since the TB rate for residents in the USA is very low.

For more information on TB and the link to illegal aliens, see:

Chagas Disease (American Trypanosomiasis), endemic to South and Central America, is spread by infected triatomine bugs, known as the "kissing bugs," that bite people. It was unknown in the United States until fairly recently. It is now estimated that between 100,000 and 500,000 people in the US have Chagas Disease. Who is infected? Mostly illegal aliens.

Since Chagas Disease is basically unknown outside of the illegal alien community most doctors won't recognize it and the blood supply just started being screened for it. Most cases of Chagas Disease that occur in patients other than illegal aliens are thought to be contracted from tainted blood – blood sold by illegal aliens with Chagas Disease before the blood supply started being tested for it as of August of 2006.

HIV The number of illegal Mexican and Central American immigrants with HIV or AIDS is unknown, mostly because researchers rarely ask about immigration status. However, it is known that the rate of HIV infection among Latino women in California is about twice the rate of white women. At one free California health clinic, all of the women have HIV or AIDS. Most are Mexican or Central American "immigrants."

Then there is Schistosomiasis, Guinea Worm Infection, Whooping cough, Cysticercosis, Morgellon's, and a host of others.

All these diseases and pathogens, and a plethora of others that are not endemic to the US, are being brought in by unscreened illegal aliens who then spread them to an unsuspecting population. These diseases will give you something to think about the next time you are eating at a restaurant with the grunt work being done by illegal aliens who didn't have medical screening before preparing and handling your food.

As recently reported in Hepatitis Risk for East Asians in New York, among east Asian immigrants in New York City, one person in seven carries the Hepatitis B virus and that researchers at New York Univ. School of Medicine, found that 15% of east Asians in New York - as many as 100,000 people - are chronic hepatitis carriers, with the rate highest among immigrants from China. That infection rate is 35 times the rate found in the general population. The article did not mention how many of the infected people were illegal aliens but odds are the vast majority were.

Health reporter Bill Sardi noted:
"Recently an outbreak of hepatitis traced to Chi-Chi's Mexican restaurant, in Pennsylvania was inexplicably traced to contaminated green onions, not the most obvious cause, undocumented food workers who harbored Hepatitis. For the most part, Hepatitis is a blood-borne, not a food-borne disease. The Hepatitis outbreak infected over 650 individuals, caused 9,000 Americans to undergo immune globulin shots, and killed 4 people.

If Americans found out restaurants can commonly infect their customers from food workers, it would be a serious blow to the restaurant industry. Better blame the green onions. Let's concede the onions, grown in Mexico, were contaminated from fecal material containing Hepatitis. Did all the green onions imported from Mexico end up in one single restaurant? There were no other outbreaks of Hepatitis anywhere elsewhere from green onions. There were 13 restaurant workers who had Hepatitis. They were the likely source of the transmitted infection.

While the unions resist mandatory Hepatitis screening and vaccination for food workers, the government mandates that newborn babies be jabbed with Hepatitis vaccines before they can leave the hospital. The logic in this defies understanding until one realizes that newborn babies of immigrant families can more easily acquire Hepatitis so all babies are given the vaccines."
As noted in a May 2006 article, Milford taking harsher stance against illegals than Framingham, increased levels of TB are being noted and some municipalities are finally starting to take action to protect their citizens.

As unfortunate as it may be, the US can not bear the financial burden for treating the world's sick, ill, and infected populace, but the Govt. should be protecting American citizens from the diseases being brought in by illegal aliens.

How many more citizens will come down with Hepatitis, Leprosy, E-coli, or Chagas Disease from contact with an infected illegal alien before something is done? How many school children must get TB before our government takes action to protect them?

Remember the movie Alien and how the creature popped out of infected bodies? The Guinea Worm is a mini-version. Maybe your kids can take advantage of the experience on show and tell day.

If we screen legal aliens for contagious diseases, why are we allowing unscreened and contagious illegal aliens to roam the country infecting the citizenry? Diseases - collateral damage from a "victimless crime" to save ten cents on a head of lettuce.

Obama: American Voters Want Border Fences Completed

According to Rasmussen Reports:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 68% of U.S. voters now believe the United States should continue to build a fence on the Mexican border. That's up nine points from March when the Obama administration halted funding for the fence and the highest level of support ever.

Just 21% oppose the continued building of the border fence.

Support for the fence is strong across all demographic groups. But while 76% of Mainstream voters think the United States should continue to build the fence, 67% of the Political Class are opposed to it. Most members of the Political Class, however, say it can't be done. Fifty-six percent (56%) of Mainstream voters say it is possible to stop illegal immigration, but 58% of the Political Class disagree.

Memo: “A Non-Legislative Version Of Amnesty for Illegals"

Obama Administration Memo Cites Non-Legislative Amnesty As Possible Option On Illegal Immigration

MEMO TO U.S. CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES DIRECTOR: “This memorandum offers administrative relief options to promote family unity, foster economic growth, achieve significant process improvements and reduce the threat of removal for certain individuals present in the United States without authorization. It includes recommendations regarding implementation timeframes and required resources.” (Denise A. Vanison et al, Memorandum For Director Alejandro N. Mayorkas, “RE: Administrative Alternatives To Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” U.S. Citizenship And Immigration Services, P.1)

“Summary: In The Absence Of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, USCIS Can Extend Benefits And/Or Protections To Many Individuals And Groups By Issuing New Guidance And Regulations…” (Denise A. Vanison et al, Memorandum For Director Alejandro N. Mayorkas, “RE: Administrative Alternatives To Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” U.S. Citizenship And Immigration Services, P.1)

“To Promote Family Unity, USCIS Could Reinterpret Two 1990 General Counsel Opinions Regarding The Ability Of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Applicants Who Entered The United States (U.S.) Without Inspection To Adjust Or Change Status.  This Would Enable Thousands Of Individuals In TPS Status To Become Lawful Permanent Residents.” (Denise A. Vanison et al, Memorandum For Director Alejandro N. Mayorkas, “RE: Administrative Alternatives To Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” U.S. Citizenship And Immigration Services, P.1)

“…USCIS Could Grant Deferred Action. This Would Permit Individuals For Whom Relief May Become Available In The Future To Live And Work In The U.S. Without Fear Of Removal.” (Denise A. Vanison et al, Memorandum For Director Alejandro N. Mayorkas, “RE: Administrative Alternatives To Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” U.S. Citizenship And Immigration Services, P.2)

“Rather Than Making Deferred Action Widely Available To Hundreds Of Thousands And As A Non-Legislative Version Of ‘Amnesty’, USCIS Could Tailor The Use Of This Discretionary Option For Particular Groups Such As Individuals Who Would Be Eligible For Relief Under The DREAM Act (an estimated 50,000), or under section 249 of the Act (Registry), who have resided in the U.S. since 1996 (or as of a different date designed to move forward the Registry provision now limited to entries before January 1, 1972).” (Denise A. Vanison et al, Memorandum For Director Alejandro N. Mayorkas, “RE: Administrative Alternatives To Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” U.S. Citizenship And Immigration Services, P. 11)

The Federal Government has ignored, disregarded, turned a blind eye, and otherwise acted as though this invasion isn’t happening. Arizona is tired of it!
While California and Texas have a great fence to keep Citizens safe and illegals out, Arizona bears the burden and cost of all these illegals. The promised border fence doesn’t exist here.

Arizonans are entirely sick of the garbage, vandalism, lack of respect for property, our Citizen’s rights to feel safe and secure in their homes and possessions for which the Constitution guarantees us but which the federal government utterly ignores.

We certainly gave the feds every opportunity in the past 10 years to enforce federal laws before doing anything for ourselves. Ignoring this situation hasn’t made it go away. What happened to all that money supposed to go to build an impenetrable fence across the border? It certainly wasn’t used in Arizona!
Update: U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton has blocked the key provisions of SB 1070!!

We must stand up for Arizona Now before it’s too late!
The invasion of the Arizona border from illegal immigrants has hastened with the Obama administration attempting to sue Arizona and talking about granting Amnesty to millions of illegals in America.

Help us to support Arizona in their fight to secure it’s borders from invasion.

Court Strikes Down Key Parts of SB1070

Arizona's much maligned SB 1070 was set to take effect at midnight tonight, but a federal judge today ordered key components of the state's attempt to protect itself from the violence and fiscal strain caused by the influx of illegal aliens crossing the southern border.

Though several components of the law were upheld and will be allowed to take effect, an injunction was issued to prevent the most controversial measures' implementation.

Section 2, subsection (b) of the law required state law enforcement officers to make a reasonable attempt to verify a person's immigration status if:
  • A lawful stop, detention, or arrest occurred;
  • Reasonable suspicion existed that the person was an illegal alien; and
  • Such an attempt was practical;

The order does not specifically prevent an officer from checking a suspected illegal alien's status, but blocks the requirement that an officer do so. Some legal experts speculate the striking of this section will expose any law enforcement agencies and officers who attempt verification to lawsuits. These experts predict the likelihood of litigation will effectively prevent attempts to verify the legal status of immigrants by state law enforcement. Section 3, part (a) of SB 1070 would have made any illegal alien guilty of "willful failure to complete or carry an alien registration document" if was in violation of 8 USC 1304e or 1306a. This is the section opponents said would require all Arizonans to "carry their papers." What they refused to acknowledge, and the wording of Judge Bolton's order obfuscates, is all immigrants/aliens over 18 years old are already required to apply for and carry documentation of their legal status according to federal law.

8 USC 1304e

Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to subsection (d) of this section. Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both.

8 USC 1306a

Willful failure to register Any alien required to apply for registration and to be fingerprinted in the United States who willfully fails or refuses to make such application or to be fingerprinted, and any parent or legal guardian required to apply for the registration of any alien who willfully fails or refuses to file application for the registration of such alien shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not to exceed $1,000 or be imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
It's important to understand federal law already requires immigrants/aliens to both register for and carry (at all times) immigration documents. Accordingly, to be in violation of section 3, part (a) of SB 1070, a person would have to already be in violation of federal law--a federal law the Obama administration refuses to enforce! Judge Bolton's enjoining this section effectively guarantees illegal aliens the right to violate federal law with impunity.

Section 5, subsection (c) of SB 1070 would have declared it unlawful for an "unauthorized" alien to seek or perform work in Arizona. An "unauthorized" alien is specifically defined in this section as "AN ALIEN WHO DOES NOT HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT OR AUTHORIZATION UNDER FEDERAL LAW TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES AS DESCRIBED IN 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1324a(h)(3)." Here again, Judge Bolton is guaranteeing illegal aliens the right to violate federal law without fear of punishment.

Section 6, subsection (a), part 5 of SB 1070 would have given Arizona law enforcement officers the authority to arrest a person, without obtaining a warrant, if the officer had probable cause to believe the person had committed an offense that "makes the person removable from the United States." In other words, if probable cause existed to make the officer believe the person committed some act punishable by deportation, the officer would have authority to detain said individual.

In striking down this section, it appears officers will be required to seek warrants before they arrest an illegal alien who has committed an offense that warrants deportation. Of course, while law enforcement awaits a court order the illegal alien isn't likely to wait around. He'll be long gone, and on the loose, before any such warrant is issued.

Though the rest of the law will go into effect tonight, Judge Bolton seems has done the bidding of the Obama administration and other the other left-wing groups who refuse to acknowledge the hardships inflicted on our nation, and especially the border states, by the tide of illegal immigrants streaming over our southern border. Stripping the law of its most potent provisions, Bolton has pulled the teeth of the law the Grand Canyon State hoped would be the guard dog that would protect her borders and her citizens.

Boycott Fail: Arizona’s Hotels Thriving

By Duane Lester, All American Blogger: The left all across the country felt they needed to teach those xenophobes in Arizona a lesson, so they all got together and organized a boycott of the whole state. It’s one of the most massive, cross country fails in political history:
Recent data compiled by a market research group show hotel bookings across the state — as well as in tourism hot spots Phoenix and Scottsdale — have been on the rise the past two months.
The numbers could dispel warnings from local officials that Arizona stands to lose a fortune and dampen the chances that cities and organizations will be able to compel the state to reverse its immigration law by choking its economy with a sanctions-style business boycott.
“Fundamentally, the boycotts have been unsuccessful,” said Barry Broome, president of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
In other news, the law isn’t even being enforced and the mass self-deportation is already underway:
The new law does not actually go into effect until July 29, but it has already resulted in a massive number of illegal aliens leaving the state.
One example can be found in Arizona’s public schools, which are over-burdened with the children of illegal aliens. Since April, schools have been reporting a large drop in enrollments. By late May, the Balsz Elementary School District which is 75 percent Hispanic, saw the parents of 70 students pull them out of school.
School District Superintendent Jeffrey Smith told USAToday that parents have been telling him, the new law is reason for them leaving.
Reuters recently ran a story on the explosion in yard sales throughout Arizona, as illegal aliens try to lighten their load before leaving the state.
Mexican national, Wendi Villasenor told the Reuters reporter: “Everyone is selling up the little they have and leaving. We have no alternative. They have us cornered.”
Gov. Brewer’s spokesman, Paul Senseman, recently stated that while the state has no official numbers on just how many illegal aliens have left, he has heard many similar reports.
Senseman said: “If that means that fewer people are breaking the law, that is absolutely an accomplishment.”
So, hotel bookings are on the rise, illegals are leaving the state and the law has yet to be applied.
Sounds like Arizona really hurt themselves with this one.

Hispanic GOP Group to Announce Support for Arizona Immigration Law

By Joshua Rhett Miller, FoxNews: The Arizona Latino Republican Association will become the first Hispanic organization in the country to actively oppose the Department of Justice's lawsuit against the state of Arizona's new immigration law.

Larry Klayman, founder of Freedom Watch, Inc., said he will be joined by ALRA Chairman Jesse Hernandez and members of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association at an announcement Thursday morning in Phoenix.

ALRA will become the first group of Latino Americans to "put a foot forward legally" in support of S.B. 1070 by filing a motion to intervene against the Justice Department's lawsuit challenging Arizona's immigration policy, Klayman said.

"This is a way to tell the country that, 'Hey, we're Americans too and we believe in the rule of law," Klayman told "It's a way to say, 'We got here legally and we contributed a great deal. We want the rest of the country to recognize that we're with you' [in the national immigration debate]."

By filing the motion, Klayman said ALRA will be "in effect, a defendant" in the DOJ lawsuit, which names the state of Arizona as well as Gov. Jan Brewer as defendants. The Justice Department claims the federal government has "preeminent authority" on immigration enforcement and that the Arizona law "disrupts" that balance.

The motion was filed Wednesday, Klayman said.

Attempts to reach Hernandez were not successful. A message seeking comment from the Department of Justice was not immediately returned.

Arizona's law, which was passed in April, requires police officers conducting traffic stops or questioning suspects about legal violations to ask about immigration status if "reasonable suspicion" exists that the individuals is in the country illegally.  Critics have said the law will lead to racial profiling.

Meanwhile, seven Latin American countries -- Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Peru -- are seeking to join Mexico in support of a lawsuit challenging Arizona's law. The countries have filed separate motions to join Mexico's legal brief supporting the lawsuit filed by U.S. civil rights and other advocacy groups. A federal judge formally accepted Mexico's filing, but did not immediately rule on the latest motions filed late last week.

Rep. Steve Montenegro, R-Ariz., the youngest member of the state's legislature, was the only Hispanic to vote in support of Arizona's new law. As the son of immigrants who came to the U.S. legally, Montenegro became a citizen at age 18 and has repeatedly voiced his support of S.B. 1070.

"America is a not a race," Montenegro told Fox News. "The United States of America is not the color of your skin, it is the way you think, the way you see life."

On officially becoming a U.S. citizen, Montenegro said, "When you finally reach that day, you understand that being an American is a responsibility, not just an entitlement."

BREAKING: Multiple Ranches in Laredo, TX Taken Over By Los Zetas

Update 7/25/2010: ALIPAC is reporting, "Now we have reports from local law enforcement, local media, and citizens who live in the area Digger claims is under Los Zeta occupation and they all say there's nothing like that happening in the area." Blogs For Borders is not removing this post article so that we may properly provide updated information and may properly determine if The Cypress Times is an appropriate source for information in the future. If anyone finds new facts related to this posted article, please leave a comment.

Prior Update: Several people have said that the Laredo Police have not confirmed this information. The below story may or may not be a hoax. We will follow and update information regarding this reported story by The Cypress Times.

The Cypress Times - by Digger at DiggersRealm: The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed. As of this hour I cannot confirm 100% on the situation (I am at around 90%) - though the source is law enforcement in the area.

The ranches are said to be "near Mines Rd. and Minerales Rd. about 10 miles NW of I-35". Whether it is lone members or squads is not certain.

Anonymous sources in law enforcement in the Laredo area tonight have passed on word that US law enforcement agencies are in the area and are weighing their options regarding the ranches. The media has been silent on this incident and some law enforcement in the area says that they are furious that the media is not reporting the whole story of the continued violence along the border. Their frustrations are understandable because keeping the truth suppressed continues to hamper law enforcement from receiving the true support they need along the border.
The ranch assaults come on the heals of attacks in Nuevo Laredo that shut the city down as a gun-battle raged in the streets. Los Zetas blocked off intersections with vehicles and used fragmentation grenades to attack Mexican law enforcement. In the end 12 were killed and 21 injured in the assaults. Citizens in the area were told to stay in their homes and bullets whizzed all around.

Cypress Times The U.S. Consulate in Nuevo Laredo had posted warnings on its website hours before the gunfire was reported by Texas citizens, “We have received credible reports of widespread violence occurring now between narcotics-trafficking organizations and the Mexican army in Nuevo Laredo.”

The U.S. Consulate went on to say, “The consulate confirmed that fragmentation grenades were used in the attacks and that suspected drug-gang members had blocked several roads, adding that it advised ‘all U.S. citizens in Nuevo Laredo to remain indoors until the security situation improves.’”

US Citizens in Laredo called 911 after hearing gunfire and explosions just across the border. Laredo police spokesman Joe Baeza deflected the concerns of citizens with what I see as utter contempt. He said there was no spillover violence onto the US side and "We were getting reports from people who live on the river's edge that they could hear gunfire and explosions from the Mexico side," Baeza said, "We didn't have any incidents on the American side. It's hard for people to understand who don't live here ... They're not Vikings, they're not going to invade us, it doesn't work that way."

This was said just a day before the reported breaking news on the ranches being taken above.

Violence has been on the rise along the border. In April 2010 a Border Patrol agent in Laredo shot and killed an illegal alien drug smuggler near the Rio Grande

The Los Zetas are highly trained killers initially trained by United States Special Operations forces to combat the drug cartes within Mexico. As the drug war heated up the Zetas saw more money in working for the cartels and joined up with the Gulf Cartel.

In March, 2010 there was a fracture between the Los Zetas and the Gulf Cartel when a Zetas leader was said to have been assassinated by the Gulf Cartel. They demanded that the killer be turned over to them. When the Gulf Cartel refused the Zetas captured 16 Gulf Cartel members.

Since March Los Zetas abandoned their stronghold in Reynosa and moved to Nuevo Laredo, just across from the border with Laredo, Texas. There are estimated to be over 1,000 Zeta members there.

LEGAL Hispanic Immigrants are Against ILLEGAL Immigration Too!

Phoenix's Fox 10 interviews with several Hispanic immigrants who waited in line, served in our military, and followed US law to make their way to our country legally. These legal immigrants don't want those who enter illegally to get amnesty, they want them punished--some specifically call for deporting them.

This is yet another story that goes untold by the mainstream media in their effort to label all who expect our laws to be upheld via enforcement as racists.

High-Immigration States Tend To Have Less-Educated Workers

Roy Beck By Roy Beck: Our new maps (see below) suggest that if a state wants an educated workforce that creates a strong middle class and high tax base, it might want to avoid high immigration.

Take Nevada as an example. In 1970, it had the 5th best-educated laborforce in the country (based on rate of high school dropouts).

But the map on the left shows Nevada colored red for now being in the worst category of high school dropouts (having plummeted to a rank of 48th in the nation).
% of HS Dropouts% Foreign Born
HS dropouts
(Click on each map to see full-size version with state details and rank)
What might account for such a disastrous drop? Note that the map on the right also shows Nevada colored red -- in this case, for being in the highest level of immigration. (Interestingly, its long-time U.S. Senator, Harry Reid, continues to be one of the country's strongest advocates of pushing immigration to even higher levels.)

Both Senators from California (colored red for highest immigration) also are urging higher levels of immigration. After 40 years of high immigration, California has plummeted from No. 7 in educated laborforces to No. 50. On the left map, look at the red and orange states with the most high school dropouts in the laborforce. Notice how most of those states are also colored red or orange on the right map for having the most immigrants.

OK, now look at the 18 green states on the left map that have the smallest dropout rate. Then, note that all but three of those green lowest-dropout states are colored on the right map as either green or yellow for having the lowest rates of immigration.

I hope you will click on the laborforce map to view an enlarged version where you can find the ranking and precise high school dropout rate for each state.

The maps raise serious questions about boosters' claims that high immigration is essential for a state to have a good economy. Instead, it looks like states that have managed to have low immigration have tended to compete better on one of the key indicators of a healthy economic future -- a better educated workforce.

For decades, experts of all kinds have argued that states must have more and more educated workers in order to compete in the global economy, to have a large middle class and to produce the taxes necessary for the modern level of state social safety nets and services. Our laborforce map shows how well the various states are competing with each other in this category, with the red and orange states failing to compete well in terms of workers at least having a high school degree.

Our summer interns from Duke University have calculated the correlation between the two maps. Their correlation analysis found that a 1% increase in the foreign-born population correlated to almost a half a percent (0.486 percentage point) increase in the dropout rate.

The main reason immigrants have a higher percentage of high school dropouts in the laborforce appears to be because so many immigrants arrive in the United States with little education, rather than because of a lack of aptitude among immigrant children (although the low-income and low-English-proficiency of the children's parents certainly play a role, too).

To be sure, immigration is not the only or majority cause of a state competing poorly with other states in terms of educated workers. For example, low education rates have always been a problem and a cause for poverty in the low-immigration states of southern Appalachia and the Mississippi Delta where the legacies of mountain-isolation and slave-economy cultures have yet to be overcome.

But who could have dreamed in 1970 that the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Alabama would no longer be at the bottom and would have better educated workers than California, Texas, Nevada and Arizona after 40 years of high immigration there?

The Appalachian state of West Virginia (after virtually no immigration) now has barely half the high school drop-out rate in the laborforce as California!

We are grateful to the Center for Immigration Studies for its original report on the Census high school dropout data on persons in the laborforce (counting both those with a job or those looking for a job).

Please make use of this map -- forward it, print it, distribute it. Make sure that these maps are shown to all self-proclaimed experts in editorial pages, Chambers of Commerce or politics who claim that immigration is a boost to the economic prospects of your state or locale.

Latino KKK YSays Whites Should Go Back To Europe

ALIPAC is released a new video. The also added, "Illegal immigration supporting Brown Beret protesters harass American patriots in front of Californians rallied in front of Angel Stadium (Anaheim, CA) that are trying to support Arizona's SB 1070 law on Tuesday July 13, 2010.

Nicknamed the Tan Klan or Latino KKK, the Brown Berets are a paramilitary organization founded in the 1960's that support illegal immigration as a way to forge a racially pure homeland for Latino's by overthrowing part or all of the United States. Many of these brown Nazis call their plans for a racist homeland 'Aztlan'.

While this woman brazenly screams racist comments through a bull horn, she can do so because the Obama administration and most of the major news networks in America have her back. If America knew the truth about the real violence and racism that is pervasive in the pro illegal alien and pro Comprehensive Immigration Reform AMNESTY movement, then CIR would be destroyed.

America needs to abandon the Obama, McCain, Kennedy, Bush Amnesty agenda for illegal aliens and move to enforce our existing border and immigration laws instead which will slowly push illegal aliens to return to their home. If we fail to do that, groups like the Brown Berets will gain power and become more of a threat to law abiding Americans."

Ignoring Hezbollah Threat At Mexican Border Could Be Obama’s Last Misstep

By Dean Chambers: Congresswomen Sue Myrick (R-NC) and others have warned that Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah is sending agents to the Mexican border. In cooperation with elements from Venezuela, the Hezbollah agents are learning Spanish and training Mexicans to work with them in smuggling terrorism across the border. Unless the border is secured, it’s only a matter of time before a Hezbollah terrorist attack on US soil takes place.

Neither I nor anyone I know would want to see another terrorist attack on our soil nor see it become a game of political football for either side. But if Obama continue to hold securing the border hostage to his desire to get Congress to pass amnesty, he will have to be held accountable if Hezbollah stages a terrorist attack on our soil by getting the means to do such through the Mexican border. Additionally, Mexico by not doing enough to eradicate agents of Hezbollah from their country should also be held accountable if such an attack occurs.

Securing the borders is a basic function of any government and when those borders can be penetrated by enemies from around the border, failing to secure the borders is failing the government’s most important function, that of assuring our national security.

If President Obama’s policies lead to such a failure of national security and a terrorist attack on our soil, don’t be surprised to see almost immediate bipartisan calls for impeachment. They would be right in such calls and the president would have no choice but to resign in shame for not having done his job. The most absolute worst president in American history will have ensured that as his legacy. It would be a well-deserved legacy.

Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border: Drugs, Guns and 850 Illegal Aliens

"Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border 2: Drugs, Guns, and 850 Illegal Aliens" is the Center for Immigration Studies' second web-based film on the impact of illegal alien activity in Arizona. The Center's first video on the subject, "Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border: Coyotes, Bears, and Trails," has received over 50,000 views to date. This new 10-minute mini-documentary raises the bar, featuring footage of both illegal-alien entry as well as gun- and drug-smuggling. At minimum, the inescapable conclusion is that hidden cameras reveal a reality that illegal-alien activity is escalating.

The hidden camera footage, acquired from a variety of sources, indicates that there is an unfortunate lack of federal law enforcement presence on Arizona's federal land on the border in Nogales, in the Coronado National Forest (15 miles inside the border), and the Casa Grande Sector (80 miles inside the border). Also significant to the story are responses received as part of Freedom of Information Act requests made by Janice Kephart, the Center's Director of National Security Studies, in August 2009. Featured in the film is a 2004 federal government PowerPoint showing the near-complete devastation of a borderland national park due to illegal-alien activity, highlighting the disconnect between the situation on the ground in Arizona and Washington rhetoric. West Texas Town Bolsters Security as Mexican Deaths Continue

By Brandi Grissom / Texas Tribune: FORT HANCOCK - They can't keep burying the bodies here. Not just because the small cemetery in this remote desert town can't handle the volume - because somebody could get killed. On a still, sunny spring morning in Fort Hancock, about 60 miles east of El Paso, two elderly Hispanic men sit on the tailgate of a pickup, surrounded by graves.

Francisco Estrada and Alberto Rosales munch on pieces of fruit, legs dangling above the dusty earth where many former residents of this rural outpost make their final repose. As caretakers for the Fort Hancock Cemetery, they put in about 20 hours a week. It's mostly quiet work, meant to occupy their aging minds and bodies.

This spring, though, as the drug war enveloped Fort Hancock's Mexican sister city, El Porvenir, their stress levels spiked. "What they're starting over there, they're going to finish here," Estrada frets.

Estrada and Rosales point to white and yellow silk flowers that adorn one of the most recent additions to the cemetery: the resting place of Manuel Morales Lerma, who was shot at his home in El Porvenir. Fearing cartel leaders would next target his family, Morales Lerma's relatives moved his funeral to Fort Hancock's tiny cemetery.

People here describe the ceremony like a scene out of a spaghetti western. Sheriffs' deputies from all around came to stand guard. Some mourners hid in the bushes with guns, says Hudspeth County Judge Becky Dean Walker.
Fewer than 20,000 people live in the Valle de Juárez, a 60-mile stretch of small villages that line the highway from Juárez to El Porvenir. In what was once a peaceful if desperately poor farming community, more than 75 people have fallen victim to the raging drug war so far this year. It's an astonishing death rate. If the pace of killings continues this year, the murder rate could reach 1,600 homicides for every 100,000 people (in New Orleans, the 2009 murder rate was 52 per 100,000, the highest in the nation, according to FBI data).

Cartel leaders have told entire towns to vacate or be decimated. They've burned homes and churches and left in their wake residents paralyzed with fear. The aftershocks extend far from the epicenter of the violence, bringing fear and confusion - along with legions of armed guards, and refugees from the bloodbath - to Fort Hancock and other rural Texas border outposts.

Morales Lerma's funeral passed without another murder; the slaughter to the south has yet to bleed across the border.

Yet no one disputes the need to be prepared: As El Porvenir and the rest of the Juárez Valley have descended into chaos, law enforcement has crushed into the small towns of Hudspeth County. More officers - state, local and federal - work more hours with more firepower during every hour of the day.

Though Hudspeth County residents fret for their southern neighbors - especially family members who cannot escape to the United States - many welcome the protection from the nightmare just across the Rio Grande. . . . [Full Story]

Nine States File Legal Briefs Declaring Support of Arizona Constitutional Authority

H/T New Patriot Journal - By DAVID RUNK - reprinted in part from Yahoo! News DETROIT – States have the authority to enforce immigration laws and protect their borders, Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox said Wednesday in a legal brief on behalf of nine states supporting Arizona's immigration law.

Cox, one of five Republicans running for Michigan governor, said Michigan is the lead state backing Arizona in federal court and is joined by Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Virginia, as well as the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Arizona law, set to take effect July 29, directs officers to question people about their immigration status during the enforcement of other laws such as traffic stops and if there's a reasonable suspicion they're in the U.S. illegally.
President Barack Obama's administration recently filed suit in federal court to block it, arguing immigration is a federal issue. The law's backers say Congress isn't doing anything meaningful about illegal immigration, so it's the state's duty to step up.

"Arizona, Michigan and every other state have the authority to enforce immigration laws, and it is appalling to see President Obama use taxpayer dollars to stop a state's efforts to protect its own borders," Cox said in a statement.
Arizona's Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, in a statement released by Cox's office, said she was thankful for the support.

In a telephone interview, Cox said the nine states supporting Arizona represents "a lot of states," considering it was only Monday that he asked other state attorneys general to join him. The brief was filed in U.S. District Court in Arizona on the same day as the deadline for such filings.

"By lawsuit, rather than by legislation, the federal government seeks to negate this preexisting power of the states to verify a person's immigration status and similarly seeks to reject the assistance that the states can lawfully provide to the Federal government," the brief states... read more HERE.

Obama's Illegal Immigration Policy: Break the Law, Don't get Sued

border patrolby Bobby Eberle, The Loft: Usually if someone does something illegal, they face criminal charges, a lawsuit, or some other law enforcement action. If someone follows the law, then everything is OK. After all, the whole basis for having a law is so that people will follow it, right? Now, let's look at that idea in terms of local governments. Applying the same principle, a state or local government that attempts to follow a federal law, should be in good shape. But those governments which don't uphold the law should be subject to prosecution and lawsuits, right? Well, maybe in a "normal" country under "normal" circumstances. However, we are in Obama's world now, and if you try to enforce illegal immigration laws, you will be sued. Ignore them, and you'll be fine.

The Washington Times reports that the Obama administration "said it will not go after so-called sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with the federal government on immigration enforcement, on the grounds that they are not as bad as a state that 'actively interferes.'" That's right... as Obama's team actively tries to shut down Arizona's new illegal immigration law that simply reiterates federal law, they are ignoring local governments which are actively BREAKING the law.
"There is a big difference between a state or locality saying they are not going to use their resources to enforce a federal law, as so-called sanctuary cities have done, and a state passing its own immigration policy that actively interferes with federal law," Tracy Schmaler, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., told The Washington Times. "That's what Arizona did in this case."
So... what federal law is being "interfered with?" Can someone please tell me? All the Arizona law states is that when police pull someone over for a crime that they must request proof of citizenship if they believe the person is an illegal alien. How does that interfere with anything?
"For the Justice Department to suggest that they won't take action against those who passively violate the law - who fail to comply with the law - is absurd," said Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee and chief author of the 1996 immigration law. "Will they ignore individuals who fail to pay taxes? Will they ignore banking laws that require disclosure of transactions over $10,000? Of course not."
In the meantime, as "sanctuary cities" receive a pass from the Obama administration, the legal action they are taking against Arizona continues. As if one lawsuit isn't good enough, Obama's boys are now threatening a second one. The Washington Times notes that the Obama administration "could file yet another lawsuit against Arizona if it decides racial profiling is taking place under that state's new immigration law, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said."

So, if Holder can't shut down the Arizona law based on their first lawsuit which states that Arizona's law "interferes" with federal law, then they will go after them on racial profiling charges. As we all know, this is about politics and not law enforcement. Obama's agenda means that if there are laws which conflict with his "vision," then those laws will be ignored. If you try to enforce them, watch out.

Fortunately, several GOP senators are trying to stop the nonsense. According to The Hill, "two Republican senators announced Wednesday they will attempt to amend legislation to prevent the Obama administration from suing Arizona over its controversial immigration law."
"States like Arizona shouldn't be prosecuted for protecting their citizens when the federal government fails to do so," said DeMint said in a statement. "The federal government is rewarding illegal behavior and encouraging many more to enter our nation illegally when they refuse to enforce our laws."
Whether their amendment to a piece of small-business legislation works to stop the lawsuit remains to be seen, but at least they are attempting to restore some sanity to the Obama administration. If Obama will not only ignore the pleas of Arizona residents but then also sue Arizona for trying to protect itself, then something has to be done.

We are talking about enforcing existing federal laws. Sanctuary cities ignore them. They get a pass. Arizona is attempting to enforce them. They get a whole world of grief. [Read more at The Loft.]

In Reid's World, Illegals Don't Take NV Jobs

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) refutes hard data and denies illegal aliens are taking construction jobs in Nevada. He also denied the effectiveness of E-Verify, though a federal government accountant found the system worked correctly 99% of the time.

Reid refused to allow a vote on an amendment by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) to the infamously ineffective "stimulus" bill in 2009 that would have required all construction companies to use E-Verify when hiring workers for projects funded by the "stimulus".

Though a Pew Research Study shows Nevada has the highest percentage of illegal aliens in the workforce, Reid says they're not taking construction jobs in his state.

Liberation Theology Moves to the Border

The far left Presbyterian (PCUSA) has joined the Arizona Boycott and refuses "to hold national meetings in Arizona and any states that adopt strict immigration laws such as Arizona's new Senate Bill 1070." . . .

The PCUSA, which is on it's last legs as a viable mainline denomination, has given itself over to the open pandering of all so-called "marginalized" groups, and to heretical leftist theology in an attempt to bolster it's sagging membership rolls. . . .

Utah Stops Feeding Illegals

LOL: Illegals "wonder if Americans are being given preference over them."

By Julia LYon, The Salt Lake Tribune: At the beginning of July, more than 2,000 families with undocumented immigrants stopped receiving food stamp benefits due to a change in Utah’s rules. Now a growing number of them are showing up at emergency food pantries confused and needing help.

“But, of course, I have to feed my family,” said an undocumented mother of five who works as a housekeeper at a nursing home. She is among those who recently lost food aid.

Earlier this year, the state announced it would begin to fully count the income earned by all members of a household when determining food stamp eligibility. Previously, only a portion of undocumented immigrants’ income was counted in the food stamp calculation, due to the limitations of an old computer system.
That meant, in some prior cases, that a family with several undocumented members might qualify for food stamps although a family of native Utahns making the same amount of money might not.  “We believe this is fair and equitable across the board to treat all people equally when it comes to calculating the benefits that people get when they apply for food stamps,” said Curt Stewart, a spokesman for the state Department of Workforce Services, which oversees the food stamp program.

Despite the new rules, a blended family with children born in America and undocumented parents could still qualify for help if their income was low enough. The new computer-based eligibility system began July 1. But the families who have showed up at Hildegarde’s Pantry at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Salt Lake City have not understood the bureaucratic changes and wonder if Americans are being given preference over them. . . . Illegal Immigration and the Catholic Church

TOTUS - Arizona has just passed one of the nations strongest illegal immigrant laws. This coming as the violence south of the border is beginning to spill over into that state. Recently the murder of an Arizona rancher by a suspected illegal immigrant thought to be connected to the drug smuggling cartels highlighted this encroaching violence. All of this comes against the backdrop of increasing demands on that states social services caused by the 500,000 or so illegals there and the refusal of the federal government to do little. As usual the Catholic Church is showing its disconnect from the vast majority of Americans by siding with those in this country illegally. No wonder the church's numbers are dropping dramatically in this nation. The Los Angeles archdiocese and Cardinal Mahony are totally out-of-bounds when they compare supporters of this law to Nazis and Soviet-style communist. If the church continues down this path it will find its support and patronage shrinking even more.

Let us face a simple fact, although many come here to work, many also come here to obtain the free handouts or for criminal purposes and sadly those who cross the border of find an honest days work quickly find out that work is no longer necessary in this country in order to put food on the table and quickly find their way to the welfare rolls. We can no longer allow millions of illegals to come into our country. We find ourselves unable to maintain services for those Americans who are here legally. To continue the madness of an open border is just insanity! An insanity we can no longer afford. Seal the border, round up the illegals, and cleanse the welfare rolls of these free-loaders once and for all.

Going Outside of the Box: Fighting Illegal Immigration from all Angles

First, I'd like to thank the Blogs For Border's team for inviting me to post here at Blogs for Borders. It's an honor, and I hope to be a regular contributor.

Occasionally, ideas pop into my head. These are usually ideas that either don’t exactly fit at the Conservative Hideout. Here are two of those ideas…

Idea 1: A protest against Mexico and Illegal Immigration.

Most of us know, sadly, that every year, illegal immigrants kill thousands of Americans. However, the government does not keep statistics on it, and the MSM refuses to report it. The Mexican government supports it due to the income sent back to there. A concerned group, however, might be able to raise awareness of this with some well-orchestrated protests.

We know that American citizens are being killed by illegals. We also know the identity of these victims. Media reports and court documents can confirm that. The idea is this: several dozen people buy white t-shirts. They can make an “iron on.” with the name of a victim, and “Killed by illegal immigration.” (Most printers can make an iron-on) Each person should use the name of a different victim. Then, they can gather at a location that is sure to be noticed. I would suggest the Mexican Embassy or a Consulate. The protesters then can lie down on the sidewalk to represent that illegal immigration has a human toll.

Some other details: All care should be taken to make sure that the name of the victim is accurate and the case is solid. Also, the media should be invited. Since the media likely won’t show up, several people should record it and make sure that it ends up on YouTube.

Some will think that this is insensitive to the families of the victims. My only answer is to say that the fact that these people were killed by illegal immigration, and the deaths were therefore preventable, is far more offensive than simply mentioning it.

This idea has other applications as well. An pro-illegal immigration rally can be counter-protested in a similar manner. People can put the names and message on signs and counter protest quite effectively. Anything that illegals or their allies do or say against it is directly insensitive to the fact that people are dying. Of course, they don’t care that Americans are dying; all they want is their amnesty. It can therefore be asked, “How many deaths are enough?”

Idea 2: Civil Liability

We have heard of groups that openly assist illegal immigrants in entering this country. There are others that warn illegals of immigration raids. Still others provide support to illegals, allowing them to stay in our country and access public services. In aiding the illegals in entering and staying in this country, are they assuming some civil liability? If one of the illegals that they helped commits a property crime, or kills someone, could the group that helped them be held liable? If there are lawyers among the readers here, kindly let me know.

I mention these things because we can’t expect this administration to help us. Come to think of it, the GOP doesn't exactly have a great track record on it either. We also can’t expect the “fourth estate” to provide the people with any actual information on the topic. It’s up to us, and we should explore using any legal and ethical means to expose and punish the crime, as well as those that help facilitate it.
